Casa de Montecristo Expands in Florida and Arizona

There's a new sign over the doorway of Prime Cigar & Wine Bar in Boca Raton, Florida, and it reads "Casa de Montecristo." Brick-and-mortar cigar retail chain Casa de Montecristo, owned by Tabacalera USA, has purchased Prime and renamed it Casa de Montecristo by Prime Cigar. This is the 17th brick-and-mortar location the company now owns.
"Casa de Montecristo's acquisition of our Boca Raton location will take Prime Cigar & Wine Bar to a new level of superior service, selection, and value for the enjoyment of our and local adult consumers," said Ryan Leeds, co-founder of Prime Cigar.
It's important to note that Prime Cigar's sister location, Casa de Montecristo by Prime Cigar & Whiskey Bar, located in Miami, has not been acquired by Casa de Montecristo. That location remains owned and operated by Prime Cigar founders Jason Reznik and Ryan Leeds through a license agreement.
In addition to purchasing the new Florida location, Casa de Montecristo has also struck a naming right's agreement with Arizona-based cigar retailer Churchill's Fine Cigars. Under the agreement, Churchill's four Arizona locations will be branded with the Casa de Montecristo name.
"This strategic acquisition in Florida and naming rights agreement in Arizona continue to catapult us to our overall mission to be the cigar lounge destination, delivering the highest quality selection, service and experiences for all adult cigar smokers," said Steve Lochan, chief executive officer of Casa de Montecristo.
Casa de Montecristo opened its first location in 2008. The retail chain includes company-owned stores and licensed-based partnerships with cigar retailers around the country.
The Casas de Montecristo stores across the U.S. are run by Tabacalera USA, a subsidiary of tobacco giant Imperial Brands PLC. In addition to the Casas, Tabacalera operates Altadis U.S.A. Inc., Santa Clara and JR Cigar.
