Aganorsa Leaf Rare Leaf Reserve Goes Dark With Maduro

The Aganorsa Leaf Rare Leaf Reserve line from Nicaragua will be getting a stronger version covered in a dark, Mexican wrapper. Called Rare Leaf Reserve Maduro, the line is expected to start shipping this May.
While the company blended the cigars to be full in body, it also considers the strength to come on deceptively. “It’s a little sneaky because it’s not aggressive,” Terence Reilly, vice president of sales and marketing, told Cigar Aficionado. “It’s rich but it does not come across as strong as it is until you’ve smoked it for an inch or so.”
Rolled at the Mexican San Andrés cover leaf, two Nicaraguan binders—one from Jalapa and the other from Estelí—and filler from Nicaragua as well. All the tobacco was grown by Aganorsa on company-owned farms with the exception of the wrapper.
The line comes in three sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 1/4 inches by 52 ring gauge; Toro, 6 by 54; and a box-pressed Belicoso, at 6 by 52. Packaged in boxes of 15, suggested retail prices should range between $13.50 and $14.50 each.
