United Cigars And J.C. Newman Collaborate For New Firecracker
When John F. Kennedy signed the Stanford Newman of J.C. Newman began using Cameroon wrappers on some of his cigars, and now Cameroon is well known in the cigar industry, used on many popular brands by various makers.
To celebrate six decades since Stanford’s embrace of Cameroon, J.C. Newman has teamed up with United Cigars to create a limited-edition version of its El Baton brand wrapped in Cameroon leaf from Western Africa. Called the El Baton Cameroon Firecracker, it measures 3 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge, the same stubby dimensions typical of the Firecracker size. The cigar is topped with a twist of tobacco on the cap intended to resemble a fuse. Inside, the binder and filler are Nicaraguan.
Despite its explosive moniker the El Baton Cameroon Firecracker is intended to be medium-bodied in of strength.
The Firecracker is a shape created by United Cigars that has been used on several collaborations with various cigarmakers over the years, but this marks the first time that a J.C. Newman-owned cigar has appeared in the Firecracker presentation.
Made in Nicaragua at the Newmans’ PENSA factory, production is limited to just 500 boxes of 20 cigars. The cigars have a suggested retail price of $9 each, and distribution is being handled through United Cigars.
The El Baton Cameroon Firecracker is expected to ship in late August.
