Viaje To Ship Summerfest Collector’s Edition

Viaje Cigar Co. is about to kick off summer with a trio of limited editions called Summerfest. They’re part of Viaje’s Collector’s Edition, a series of one-off cigars with unique blends and sizes. The seasonal smokes are expected to ship on June 22.
Summerfest comes in three editions, Habano, Maduro and Barber Pole, which are all the same size: a torpedo measuring 6 1/4 inches by 54 ring gauge. Each torpedo is made with a shaggy foot where the binder is exposed. According to the company, the idea behind shedding some of the wrapper was to resemble how we shed clothing as the summer heats up.
All three consist of mostly Nicaraguan tobacco, save for the wrappers. The Habano version is clad in an Ecuadoran wrapper, the maduro wears a dark Mexican cover leaf and the Barber Pole features alternating leaves of Mexican maduro and Ecuador Connecticut. After rolling, Viaje says, the cigars were aged for six months.
In of strength, Viaje tells Cigar Aficionado that the Barber Pole is medium in body, whereas the Habano and Maduro are a bit stronger at medium-to-full-bodied.
Summerfest is packaged in boxes of 25, but there are no distinguishing words on the boxes to tell you which cigars are inside. There is, however, a window on the back of the box allowing consumers to peer inside and see the wrapper shade.
Viaje Summerfest Collector’s Edition is produced in Nicaragua at the Aganorsa Leaf factory. Production is limited to 300 boxes of each blend.
