New World Puro Especial Gets a Redesign

The glossy red boxes that once held New World Puro Especial cigars by A.J. Fernandez are now a thing of the past. Starting June 1, Puro Especiales will come in new packaging as the remaining red boxes are phased out.
While the original boxes were certainly eye catching in the humidor, the presentation was very inconsistent with the rest of the New World series. According to New World Cameroon and New World Oscuro, only with a different color scheme to differentiate the line from the other brands.
New World Puro Especial was released in 2017 and is A.J. Fernandez’s expression not only of Nicaraguan tobacco, but of Estelí in particular, as the blend consists solely of Nicaraguan leaf grown in that region. Although the packaging has been updated, the blend is not changing.
Retailing from $8.40 to $9.50 per cigar, New World Puro Especial comes in four sizes: the Toro, which was Cigar Aficionado’s No. 12 cigar of 2017.
